Hello. I’m Khalia Wildawn.

Hello. I’m Khalia Wildawn. I’m happiest surrounded by flowers, flowing water and the beautiful places that make me stop, look closer and wonder. I’m so glad you’re here.

Hi there, lovely soul. I’m glad you’re here.

I suppose the best way to tell you who I am is to tell you what I love.

I love the natural world.

I love standing beneath enormous trees and looking up into their branches. I love following rivers to see where they lead, watching waves roll onto a quiet shore, feeling grass beneath my bare feet and looking towards mountains that make me wonder what the world looks like from the top.

But I’m just as fascinated by the little things.

A bird calling from somewhere I can’t quite see. Tiny footprints in the sand. A butterfly resting on a leaf. Sunlight sparkling on water. Something rustling beneath the undergrowth that makes me stop immediately and think, What was that?

I’m curious about all of it.

There is always something to notice, something to discover and usually another question I want answered.

The Little Things Matter to Me

Nature has a way of making me slow down.

Of course I can stand before a mountain or an endless ocean and be completely overwhelmed by how beautiful it is.

But sometimes the thing I remember most is something almost everyone else walked straight past.

A feather caught in the grass.

The first drop of rain landing on a leaf.

A perfect little shell at the water’s edge.

A spiderweb covered in morning dew.

A tiny creature going about its day, completely unaware that I’ve stopped to watch.

Those little moments matter to me.

They remind me that you don’t always have to travel somewhere extraordinary to discover something extraordinary.

Sometimes you just have to notice.

And Then There Are Flowers

Khalia Wildawn smiles while holding a white daisy near her chin, surrounded by wildflowers beside a sparkling mountain stream.
And then there are flowers. I love them all—the bright ones, the tiny ones, and the little wildflowers growing where nobody thought to plant them. Give me a flower to admire and I’m ridiculously happy.

Did I mention I love flowers.

I mean, I really love flowers.

Especially Daisies.

But any flower has the beauty of its own.

Give me a meadow filled with wildflowers and you may have difficulty convincing me to leave.

I love the spectacular ones, of course — big, colourful blooms that seem determined to be noticed. But I have just as much affection for the tiny flowers growing quietly beneath trees, beside rivers, between rocks and in all those forgotten little places where nobody planted them.

If there’s a flower nearby, I’ll probably notice it.

Then I’ll stop.

Then I’ll want a closer look.

And there’s a very good chance I’ll smile at it as though we’ve just been introduced.

I love their colours, their shapes and all their tiny details. I love how completely different one can be from the next. I love discovering flowers I’ve never seen before and finding out what they are.

But I don’t need to know a flower’s name to think it’s beautiful.

Sometimes I’m perfectly happy simply sitting among them, surrounded by colour, with nowhere else I need to be.

No picking them.

No taking them home.

Just enjoying the fact that they’re there.

Those are some of my favourite moments in the world.

I will talk about flowers, what they mean to me and why I love them.

I Care About This Beautiful, Living World

The more time I spend in nature, the more I realise that I’m sharing it.

A forest isn’t simply a beautiful place for me to explore. It’s a home.

So is a river.

A meadow.

A desert.

A shoreline.

Even a single old tree can be an entire little world for the creatures living in and around it.

I think that deserves our kindness and respect.

When I discover something beautiful, I don’t believe I have to possess it.

I don’t need to pick every flower I admire or touch every creature I meet. Sometimes I can simply sit quietly, watch, listen and leave things exactly as I found them.

Sometimes loving something means letting it be.

I’m Still Discovering

Khalia Wildawn kneels on a forest floor, carefully admiring a group of violet webcap mushrooms growing beside a moss-covered fallen log.
I don’t think I’ll ever stop being amazed by the things nature hides in unexpected places. Today, it’s these beautiful violet mushrooms. I’ll admire them from right here. I won't touch them though, because I don't know what they are. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

I certainly don’t know everything about nature.

I hope I never do.

I love that there will always be another flower I’ve never seen, another animal I know almost nothing about, another place I haven’t explored and another question I haven’t thought to ask.

There is always more to discover.

And yes, many of these little encounters eventually find their way into my poetry.

But that’s another part of my story.

For now, I simply wanted you to know a little about me.

I’m kind. I’m curious. I care deeply about the living world around me. I probably ask too many questions. I get ridiculously excited when I discover something I’ve never seen before.

And apparently, I can’t walk past a flower without stopping to admire it.

I’m quite happy with that.

There’s an extraordinary world out there, filled with enormous wonders and tiny ones.

I want to keep discovering both.

I’m glad you’re here.
