| I followed the edge of the sea and let each wave erase a little of what I had been carrying. By the time I looked back, even my thoughts felt softer. |
🌊 A lovely ocean morning to you.
Please, come walk beside me and we'll let the waves set the pace.
Following the Shore
Sometimes I walk along the beach without thinking about where I am going. I simply follow the shoreline and notice what is around me. This free verse poem grew from one of those quiet walks, when the sun felt warm against my skin, the breeze moved gently through my hair, and the sand softened beneath my feet. I was simply walking beside the ocean, and somewhere along the way, I felt completely at peace. I think we can all agree that the beach has a tendency to do that. Don't you think?
Barefoot Beside the Sea
I love walking where the ocean meets the sand, especially when I can take off my shoes and feel the beach beneath my feet. Some patches are warm and dry, others cool and firm where the waves have reached them. I love how the breeze plays with my hair and how sunlight settles across my shoulders as I walk. Beside the water, I never feel like counting the distance. I just follow the shoreline for as long as it feels good to keep going.
A Little Lighter
When the time comes for me to the beach I feel more settled than when I arrived. Perhaps it is the steady sound of the water, or simply having time to notice small sensations without needing anything from them. I don't really want to understand it too much. Some feelings are lovelier when they are simply allowed to happen, and that quiet peace is one of them.
Peace Found Me Walking
Free Verse Poem by Khalia Wildawn.
The sun rests warmly on my shoulders,
and I let it stay there as I walk,
bright against my skin without asking anything,
just warmth beneath an open sky.
A breeze slips softly through my hair,
lifting strands away from my face,
cool enough to meet the heat of the day,
carrying the clean breath of the sea.
Sand gives a little beneath my bare feet,
warm and soft between my toes,
each step leaving something behind me
that the water will soon smooth away.
The waves keep moving beside me,
rising, folding, reaching for the shore,
and I find myself breathing with their rhythm,
with nowhere I need to be but here.
I did not walk this way looking for peace,
or even know that I needed its quiet,
but somewhere between sun, sand and sea,
peace found me walking.
